Guided tour to Uranostind

A trip of a lifetime. On clear days you can see famous peaks in all directions - Falketind in the south, Hurrungane in the west, Langeskavltind in the east and Storen in the north. Here, from the top of Uranostind, Mr. Slingsby stood and scouted towards Store Skagastølstind in 1876.

The 2,157-meter-high Uranostinden is a landmark in the southern part of Jotunheimen, and a fantastic hike in varied terrain – including an exciting glacier passage.

The hike starts at the barrier at the end of Koldedalsveien. Here you will meet your guide from Tau & Tind, before following a nice path in gentle terrain towards Uradalsvannet. At the river mouth you cross the rocks and take the first steps into Jotunheimen National Park.

From here the terrain gradually becomes steeper towards the glacier. The path gradually turns into scree and moraines, before you reach Uranosbreen on the east side of Uranostind. Here you take a well-deserved lunch break, before the guide helps you with crampons and you walk in a rope formation across the glacier.

From the top of the glacier and further towards the top of Uranostind, the walk is on rocky ground. Here, good, stiff hiking boots are a great advantage. As you approach the top, you will come up to a small plateau before the terrain becomes steep on both sides. Here you can sit down and enjoy the view, or – if you wish – walk or crawl out onto the airy ridge.

The view from the top is absolutely fantastic. On the return journey, you and your guide follow the same route back.
